Schools modify schedules for Monday’s eclipse
With the solar eclipse less than one week away, most school systems in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia have announced their schedules for Monday. Some are opting to close, while others are allowing early dismissal. The Tri Cities will experience the eclipse beginning at 1:57p.m., with the maximum coverage at 3:11. That would be during the normal time of school dismissal for most systems. The schools are siting safety concerns due to the timing of the eclipse, and allowing students to experience the event with family members as reason for the altered schedules.
