A statement from the Hall said they considered Dolly’s thoughtful gesture but the country icon is worthy of inclusion if the 1,200 voters decide. The organization also said all of the ballots with Dolly’s name on it had been mailed.

Dolly said she did not want her presence among the choice this year to split any voters for deserving acts. If elected, Dolly would be in rare company with the likes of Hank Williams, Sr., Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley as members of both the Rock and Country Hall.
