Resident Near Eastman Chemical Files Class Action Lawsuit, Over High Pressure Steam Failure Incident
A resident in the neighborhood near Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport has filed a class action lawsuit against the huge global specialty plastic’s manufacturer after a January 31 high pressure steam failure, that injured five employees and left fallout, some containing asbestos into nearby neighborhoods. That prompted Eastman to scourer properties near the Eastman Campus where debris has been detected. The lawsuit claims Eastman failed to warn nearby residents in a timely manner as well as trespassing, negligence, being a public and private nuisance and engaging in ultra hazardous activities. We have reached out to Eastman Corporate Communications officials for a comment but so far have not received a response.
