Rep. Timothy Hill to head special committee on Helene relief

The Tennessee General Assembly special session began Monday, and a Northeast Tennessee lawmaker was picked to head a committee that will oversee disaster relief legislation. Representative Timothy Hill will serve as chair of the House Disaster Relief Committee for the special session, which was called by the governor to address Hurricane Helene relief, school vouchers, and public safety/immigration issues. Hill represents House District 3, which includes Johnson and part of Carter county, both of which experienced extensive damage from Helene, plus part of Hawkins and Sullivan counties. Representative Bud Hulsey of Kingsport will serve as vice-chair.
