Police: One person wounded in Thursday afternoon shooting in Elizabethton

A shooting investigation is underway in Elizabethton after one person was found wounded Thursday afternoon.

A report issued by town police says officers were called to the residence located in the 1000 block of Oak Street just after 2:30 and found one victim inside who was transported to an area hospital.

The statement said one person was in custody and there is no danger to the public.

SHOOTING- NO DANGER TO THE PUBLIC At about 2:45 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Oak Street to a report of a person shot. Responding officers found one person shot and have a person in custody. Investigation is ongoing.
