“Ongoing settlement negotiations” underway in JC lawsuit case
New developments in the ongoing cases surrounding Sean Williams and the Johnson City Police Department include a possible settlement in one lawsuit and the possible seizure of some of Williams’ assets to pay his attorneys. Those potential settlement talks comes in the latest filing in one of the three lawsuits against Johnson City police alleging the department did not investigate Williams’ alleged crimes including rape and child pornography. The filing is a joint request from both sides to extend filing deadlines in the suit brought on by victims. The filings mention “ongoing settlement negotiations” as the reason to extend those deadlines but provides no further details. The case is set to go to trial next year.
