Numerous local fire agencies join effort to extinguish Hatcher Mountain wildfire

A number of local fire agencies joined the efforts to extinguish the Hatcher Mountain wildfire in Sevier County this week. Multiple stations in Carter County responded —including the Stoney Creek, Hampton, and Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Departments.

Additionally, Tusculum, South Greene, and Camp Creek VFDs made the trip to Wears Valley Wednesday afternoon. Another local agency, Sullivan County, returned home Thursday afternoon after working throughout the night. Sevier County officials say as of Thursday afternoon, evacuation orders will begin scaling back.
