New Virginia laws begin Monday

Next week, a host of new laws are scheduled to take affect in Virginia. New laws going into effect July 1st include making it illegal to declaw cats and the so called “Road Kill Law”. That law would allow anyone striking and killing a game animal to claim it. As of Monday, localities will be allowed to reduce speed limits to 15 mph in neighborhoods, commercial areas and state highways and all underage marriage will also be against the law in the Commonwealth.
