New Historic Overlay District for Kingsport

The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved on first reading an ordinance to designate part of Broad Street as a Historic Overlay District. The ordinance would make the 100 block of the street a Historic Overlay District, which would be in addition to the current Business zoning. Establishing a Historic Overlay District would protect the historic buildings, some of which date back more than 100 years. The ordinance was approved in a 6–1 vote.
