More than 50 suspects in Wise County being sought in ‘Operation COVID Clean-Up’

A sweep of wanted drug offenders was launched in Wise County.

More than 50 suspects were sought as part of Operation COVID Clean-up following more than 100 indictments presented to judges by Sheriff Grant Kilgore’s office and Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp.

The nickname comes from the backlog of cases Slemp said accumulated during the pandemic confronted with a show of force to symbolize law enforcement’s action to hold drug offenders accountable.
