More snow expected to impact region Thursday afternoon

Coming off the heels of a snow storm that impacted most of the region, transportation agencies for both Tennessee and Virginia are preparing for another round on Thursday evening. The National Weather Service’s Morristown base says in a social media post that mountainous areas in East Tennessee and parts of Southwest Virginia have the best chance at seeing several inches of accumulation on Thursday afternoon and evening.

TDOT says crews are already out pre-treating roads and interstates ahead of the snow. The agency goes on to say road conditions and incidents such as wrecks and stranded vehicles can be checked 24/7 on the TDOT SmartWay website.
