More schools announce schedule changes for eclipse
Several school districts in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will dismiss early or be closed on Monday, April 8 due to the solar eclipse. School systems are siting safety and attendance concerns as reasons for the decision to change schedules. Schools announcing that they will be closing are Elizabethton City and Sullivan County. Early dismissals so far include Bristol TN City, Carter, Greene, Hawkins, Rogersville City, Lee and Scott counties. The eclipse will be visible in the Tri Cities around the time that schools systems would normally be dismissing for the day.
