Marion man careless with weapon inside store, shoots himself

Police are saying a Marion, Virginia man illegally discharged his gun inside a retail store over the weekend and injured himself in the process.
Christopher Michael Smith, 42, is charged with reckless handling of a firearm and another weapon charge, according to a report from Chief of Police John Clair.
Investigators originally examined the incident at the Smyth Valley Crossing Shopping Center as a personal dispute. Smith is being held without bond on unrelated narcotics charges.
