Man arrested for 116 mph violation on I-26

The Johnson City Police Department arrested a 23 year old man, allegedly driving 116 mph on Interstate 26 Tuesday. Officers conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 19 around 12:30 a.m. The driver reportedly took Exit 20, then turned into a parking lot. The driver is identified as 23 year old, Karsun Rain Thompson, of Bristol, Virginia. He was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless driving, failure to comply, open container, and not being in possession of a driver’s license. No injuries or property damage was reported. Thompson was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
