Major Road Construction Improvement Project Now Underway In Chilhowie, Virginia

A major road construction project is now underway in Chilhowie, Virginia, located in Smyth County that’s expected to improve how traffic flows on Route 107 at its intersection with Interstate 81. The project will widen and add a turn lane on Route 107 and the Interstate 81 off ramps. 107 will be open to traffic during construction but will be limited to one lane for a period of three to four weeks. For the remainder of the project, two eleven foot wide lanes will be open to traffic, however, there will be periodic lane closures for some operations. Pedestrian traffic is not allowed in the construction zone for the duration of the project.
