Legendary dirt racer Scott Bloomquist killed in plane crash
Late Model Dirt Track Hall of Fame driver Scott Bloomquist was killed in a Friday morning plane crash in his hometown of Mooresburg.
Various media reports and fellow racer Reid Millard confirmed the story, stating Bloomquist’s mother had contacted him about the 7:15 a.m. incident that occurred as Bloomquist, 60, was flying one of the family’s vintage aircrafts when it went down on the family farm.
Bloomquist won more than 600 races in his dirt career and was an 8-time champion with three organizations including the World of Outlaws Late Model Series title in 2004. The incident will be reviewed by federal aviation officials.
