Labor Day Weekend Traffic Crashes Claim 8 Lives In Virginia, Four From Motorcycle Crashes
Virginia State Police report eight lives were lost in Virginia traffic crashes over the extended Labor Day Weekend, including four motorcycle fatalities, one which claimed the life of a New York man in a crash in southwest Virginia. While the total number of fatalities was down from last years total of 20, State Police are concerned about the number of motorcycle crashes that occurred during the period. Officers with the department also arrested 59 impaired drivers, stopped more than 46 hundred speeders and almost 16 hundred reckless drivers. State Police also assisted nearly one thousand disabled or stranded motorists.
