Kyle Rittenhouse scheduled for ETSU appearance February 8

Right-wing gun rights advocate Kyle Rittenhouse is scheduled to make an appearance next month at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

The school’s Turning Point USA affiliate is sponsoring the free event on Feb. 8 at Brown Hall. One published brief spotlighting Rittenhouse’s visit says the evening includes discussions on the Second Amendment and Black Lives Matter.

Reactions on social media to the event were mixed, with some ETSU alumni shaming the school while pro-gun residents said they were expecting an overflow crowd. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges by a Wisconsin jury for his actions in a night of civil unrest in Kenosha in 2020, where two people were killed and one was injured.
