Kingsport Police Chief Dale Phipps retiring in June

June 27 will be the last day of service for Kingsport Chief of Police Dale Phipps who announced his retirement on Thursday.

Phipps joined the force in 1988 after his service in the US Air Force and served in several capacities including Watch Commander, SWAT team member and narcotics investigator.

The report from Kingsport officials said the police chief position will be advertised to obtain candidates in the coming weeks.
