Kingsport continues search for lead pipes
A new regulation approved by the EPA says all drinking water utilities in the U.S. must have a replacement plan for lead pipes and Kingsport City leaders are currently in the process of identifying lead pipes within the cities system. The deadline to identify those pipes must be completed by October and the city is asking water customers to help locate lead lines. City leaders have provided an online survey for residents to complete that also explains how to check your incoming water pipes for lead. Officials say over 1,000 survey’s have been turned in so far, but the city still needs almost 26 thousand more before the fall deadline.
