KCS: Adults not affiliated with school system banned from eating inside school cafeterias

Kingsport City Schools will begin a policy preventing adults not affiliated with the school system from eating lunch or breakfast inside school cafeterias. The new policy will also include parents. School officials said Monday that school administrators, mental health professionals and other members of a safety task force recommended the policy change. The change is partly in response to “situations that have occurred.” The situations ranged from small animal being brought into the cafeteria, to food being brought in that has some serious allergy issues with other children. The new policy will take affect after students return for the final nine-week quarter on March 17.
