Judge says Johnson city must release audit details in cases
A federal judge has ruled that notes and other “work product” from an audit of the Johnson City Police Department’s handling of sexual assault cases can not be withheld from attorneys who’ve filed two separate federal lawsuits against the city and several current and former members of its police force. The ruling says the materials must be turned over within 7 days. The lawsuits are centered around allegations that former Johnson City business owner Sean Williams drugged and raped multiple women and that the Johnson City Police Department either corruptly or incompetently failed to stop him. The city has denied the allegations in both lawsuits.
