Jonesborough files motion to dismiss lawsuit
The Town of Jonesborough has filed a motion asking a federal judge to throw out five of eight claims against it in a lawsuit filed by Tennessee Hills Distillery. Lawyers for the town have also filed a separate answer to Tennessee Hills’ suit and requested dismissal of all counts. Jonesborough lawyers argue that five of the claims against it belong in a state court and not in federal court. Tennessee Hills has sued the town over disputes surrounding parking and outdoor dining. The company, also alleges Jonesborough interfered with its “legitimate business practices” and accuses city leaders of retaliating against the business because of public criticism. City leaders deny these allegations.
