Jonesborough Elementary School principal arrested
The principal of Jonesborough Elementary School was arrested Saturday night after allegedly driving after consuming aerosol. An arrest report from the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office says a deputy responded to a DUI call on Tom Pate Road around 11 p.m. A witness told the deputy that she had seen Matthew Combs drive away from his home after “consuming aerosol in order to become intoxicated.” The Jonesborough Elementary School website lists Combs as the current principal. The arrest report states the deputy found Combs in the driver’s seat of his vehicle inhaling nitrous oxide from a bottle. Combs claimed he had not left his driveway and allegedly admitted he was inhaling nitrous oxide and reportedly told the deputy he did not believe he was in a proper state to drive. Combs was arrested and charged with inhaling, selling, giving, or possessing glue, paint, gasoline, aerosol, gasses for unlawful purposes. Superintendent Jerry Boyd said Combs was on leave for medical reasons at the time of his arrest.
