Johnson City woman swallows four Xanax bars while in police car

A Johnson City woman is charged with tampering with evidence after she reportedly swallowed multiple Xanax pills while in the back of a police car. A report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says Ronni Ashleigh Kelley, 20, was taken into custody on Wednesday for failure to appear.

Kelley stated she was pregnant and officers handcuffed her in the front rather than the back. While being transported to jail, a deputy saw Kelley put something in her mouth and pull items from her pants.

She admitted to swallowing four Xanax bars, and a search revealed a glass pipe, a bag with a crystal substance, and three more Xanax pills. Once at the jail, police found yet another bag of crystal substance on her person. Ronni Kelley is jailed on an $11,000 bond.
