Johnson City USPS leases former manufacturing site

A U.S. Postal Service spokesperson has confirmed in a media report that they now have a lease on 128 Roweland Drive and are reviewing new locations for it’s retail operations. The new location is a former manufacturing site and will house the post office distribution and collection center. Johnson City leaders told USPS in 2021 that wouldn’t renew the lease, which expired Aug. 31, 2023.  The office has been operating under an extended lease since then. The city plans to use the building and the 5-plus acres of property but has not decided on a use.
