Johnson City to receive grant for a “storm water park”
A $3.3 million state grant will help Johnson City leaders create what city officials are calling a “storm water park” that will feature art, a fountain and other features all while reducing the risk of flooding in the West Walnut Street area. Without access to the grant money, the city would have only been able to complete the water catchment portion of the project, and not have been able to afford the construction of a usable public space. Officials place the total cost of the project to be around 33 million, with completion of the project expected in about a year.
