Johnson City takes first step to limit alcohol sales times

Johnson City has taken the first step to potentially limit the times that alcohol may be served in the city, sparking concern from some business owners. City officials claim that by unanimously approving a resolution asking the state for the power to control alcohol sale hours, that does not mean that alcohol sale hours would change. City leaders say this is the first step in a long process that would require public input from business owners and the public. As of now, the city is not allowed to usurp state law when it comes to the times that alcohol can be sold within the city.
