Johnson City swears in newly elected members, as lawsuit looms
Johnson City leaders were sworn into office after a close commission race that was won by just 38 votes. A lawsuit filed last week now has placed an asterisk beside the results. The lawsuit centers around reports that revealed Carter County election officials gave 44 people Johnson City ballots, despite those residents not living in Johnson City. The lawsuit alleges at least 50 illegal votes were cast, including other alleged discrepancies. A court date for the lawsuit has not yet been determined.
