Johnson City Commissioners Put Keebler Annexation Request On Hold
Johnson City Commissioners put a proposed, major development project through volunteer annexation in the Gray Community on hold Thursday night. Commissioners want more time for planners to work on the Rural Neighborhood zoning designation for the Keebler annexation request. Many who spoke at Thursday night’s meeting opposed the annexation. State Representative Tim Hicks was in attendance, he is also a resident in the Gray Community and says he is not against Johnson City’s annexation, but is against the wrong kind of development. Commissioner Joe Wise agrees and says getting the Rural Neighborhood zoning designation right is worth the wait. The annexation is scheduled to come before the commission again in March for consideration on first reading.
