JCPD officer “stable” after being shot Wednesday night

An officer with the Johnson City Police Department was shot around 9:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of West Market Street. The officer is in stable condition and a person of interest is in custody. TBI agents are investigating the shooting. Multiple agencies were on the scene near the intersection of Woodlawn Drive and West Market Street, including the Johnson City Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee Highway Patrol. No word on what led to the shooting.
