JCPD investigating fake attorney scam, woman arraigned
Johnson City Police are looking to hear from anyone who may have been a victim of a woman falsely representing themselves as a lawyer. Jeanne Marie Howey, also recognized as Jeaneen Ruggieri, is charged with falsely representing herself as a lawyer and theft, both felony crimes. Johnson City police would like anyone who may have had contact with her to call them. The woman is not an attorney and a so-called judge working with her, is most likely an accomplice in the scam. There are several complaints against Howey, but so far no other charges have been filed. Howey was arranged Monday in Washington County court and is being held on a $60,000 bond. Anyone with information can call the JCPD.
