JCFD says “Spring forward” this weekend, and check your smoke alarms
It’s time to “spring forward” with daylight saving time coming up this Sunday at 2 a.m. and the Johnson City Fire Department reminds everyone that it’s a good time to check your smoke alarms and change replaceable batteries, if needed. A release from department says three out of five home fire deaths are caused in structures without working smoke alarms and that half of home fire deaths happen when most people are asleep. The Johnson City Fire Department recommends that smoke alarms are installed in every bedroom, outside of each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home including the basement.
