High unemployment rates continue in Johnson and Unicoi Counties

The latest employment numbers from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development say Johnson and Unicoi counties posted unemployment rates among the state’s highest in March, though both counties had higher unemployment in February. Johnson County’s 5.1% rate was Tennessee’s third-highest, Unicoi County’s 4.7% rate was the eighth-highest among Tennessee’s 95 counties Tennessee. Both counties unemployment numbers were greatly affected after the flooding from Hurricane Helene last September.
