Hawkins Emergency Response Leader Steals Funds From Agency
A Hawkins County Emergency Response Team Leader pleads guilty to stealing more than seven thousand dollars from the agency he works for due mainly to poor financial record keeping.. Michael William Thacker told investigators he used the agency’s funds for his own benefit due to personal and financial issues was charged with theft, fraudulent use of a debit card and forgery, stole seven thousand 76 dollars between January of 2017 and January of 2021. Thacker left the agency in August of this year. Several deficiencies were also found within the financial operation of the Emergency Response Team’s financial operations itself. and was told by the Comptrollers office it must do a better job of financial reporting.
