Hawkins County Man Charged With Numerous Offenses Including Illegal Use Of Firearm And Evading Arrest
A Hawkins County man who led Hawkins County Authorities on a high speed chase after he was clocked at speeds of 80 mph hour, then assaulted a Hawkins County Deputy is jailed. 54 year old George Wesley Short, was driving 80 in a 55 mph zone, in a truck with no hood when he was initially stopped, but then sped away and led police on a wild chase through Hawkins County. Short , then crashed his truck and fled on foot. A deputy who was attempting to apprehend Short was hit in the back of the neck numerous times with Short’s closed fist. Short was eventually restrained and is facing a host of charges including resisting and evading arrest as well as fifth charge of driving on a revoked license and unlawful use of a firearm.
