A 12 member jury in Blountville found Megan Boswell guilty on all 19 counts placed against her including three counts of murder for the death of her toddler daughter Evelyn.
The panel spent more than 4 hours deliberating before coming to Thursday’s verdict. The trial now enters the penalty phase to determine if Boswell will receive a life sentence or the state’s recommended punishment of life without the possibility of parole.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Director David Rausch said in a statement that justice was finally served for the death of baby Evelyn.
The jury concluded Boswell was guilty of killing 15-month-old Evelyn who was found in a trash can on family property shortly after an AMBER Alert had been issued. Forensic experts testified Evelyn was placed in the can head first while wrapped tightly in a blanket. The official that performed Evelyn’s autopsy at ETSU’s Jenkins Center said the toddler died from homicidal violence.

Surprising testimony in the penalty phase of Megan Boswell’s trial as her mother Angel Boswell asked the jury to give her daughter a chance at parole.
Angel said Megan’s childhood was one of domestic fights and drug abuse being placed in front of her. Her father Tommy Boswell was convicted of kidnapping and aggravated assault during Megan’s formative years–with her grandparents practically raising her.
Angel testified that she was at the root of her daughter’s outcome, failing her at many points. Megan Boswell was convicted on 19 criminal counts including first degree murder.
