Governor Youngkin announces budget ammendments
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced his amendments to the state’s budget passed by the Democratic-controlled General Assembly last month. Youngkin cut some tax increases from the budget including one that would have added a sales tax to digital goods and streaming services. Youngkin also decided against including the tax decreases he had originally sought. The General Assembly reconvenes on April 17th and it is unclear whether Democrats will approve Youngkin’s changes. If the General Assembly agrees to Youngkin’s amendments, the budget becomes law. If they don’t, the budget heads back to Youngkin for his final consideration.
