Former West Greene teacher pleads guilty to statutory rape
A former West Greene teacher pleaded guilty to aggravated statutory rape in a Greene County court on Monday. The district attorneys office says Jacob Deal, a former teacher and coach at West Greene High School, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated statutory rape. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office previously said Deal had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student. Deal was originally charged with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and three counts of aggravated statutory rape. Deal is scheduled to be back in court on September 3 in Hamblen County for a sentencing hearing.
