Fixtures in 2 more schools test positive for lead in Washington County, VA
Water fixtured testing results have revealed the presence of lead in two more schools in Washington County, Virginia. Meadowview Elementary and Watauga Elementary are the latest schools to report the full results with varying levels of lead found in their water systems. School officials have turned off fixtures with detectable lead levels. Five schools in the county had already tested positive for lead issues in November and the schools discontinued the use of drinking fountains and provide bottled water for students and staff. A statement from the school system said they will continue to work with the Washington County Service Authority and the Office of Drinking water to ensure the schools are taking all needed steps to keep students and staff safe.
