Father, Mother, Grandmother, Charged With Abuse And Neglect Of Child, After Dog Bites Part Of Infant’s Ear Off

Three Bristol Virginia residents have been charged with abuse and child neglect after a March incident where the family dog bit off part of a seven month old infant’s ear. 21 year old James Alex Reed, his mother, 50 year old Sandra Lee Reed, and the mother of the child, 21 year old Morgan Anne Self were arrested after investigators determined the parents and grandmother of the child refused to get immediate emergency treatment for the child before sending the infant to a home in Bristol, Tennessee where after several hours emergency help was called. All three are charged with abuse and neglect of the child who has been removed from the home until a court hearing. The animal was taken to the Bristol Virginia Police Departments public animal shelter.
