Dry Conditions, High Winds, Low Humidity And Possible Arson Keeping Firefighters Busy
Dry conditions, with relative low humidity, and high winds expected have prompted officials to issue a red flag warning and a no burn status for northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia. Officials are hoping those steps and some predicted rain will help firefighters get a better handle on several stubborn brush fires in the region. Meanwhile, a 20 acre blaze burning on Tower Road between Hampton and Roan Mountain is suspected to have been started by arson. An investigation is underway.
