Driver in Coeburn injured following collision with train

One person was sent to the hospital with injuries after his car collided with a train near downtown Coeburn Thursday afternoon.

A town police report said the driver, identified as an elderly male, pulled out from a driveway and in front of the oncoming train on Front Street just after 1 p.m. Several medical and law enforcement teams worked to remove the driver.

The roadway and railroad reopened after 2:30 Thursday.
