Comptroller Jason Mumpower visits Carter County committee after audit
Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Jason Mumpower paid a visit to Carter County’s Financial Management Committee after a scathing audit released last month outlines a series of major problems with Carter County’s finances. The audit revealed multiple repeated violations, as well as the general account ledger being off by more than $11 million. The audit also says that multiple problems revealed in a previous audit had not been addressed. Mumpower said these kind of problems are rare which is his reason for attended the committee meeting. Mumpower said after the audit, the only person from the county he heard from was Mayor Patty Woodby. Woodby says they have a fairly new finance director and staff and would work to better train the financial team and work with the Comptroller’s office in the process.
