Comptroller: Gray Athletic Booster Club executives misused funding
An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office revealed that the Gray Athletic Booster Club misused donations totaling over $6,500.
The published report said these funds were used for a prom and personal purchases by former club members.
The scope of the study focused on financial actions of the club’s president and vice president, who left the organization in 2022.
Data shown in the review said the president paid off her husband’s credit card bills with club dollars and used the group’s debit card at a membership warehouse store. Withdrawals of cash, awarding cash prizes to athletes, and failure to maintain financial records were other violations identified. The information has been presented to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
