Chemical Benzene, Not Cause Of Illnesses Reported From Residents Near Bristol, Landfill
Irritation to the skin and eyes and upper respiratory issues can result from exposure to the chemical Benzene, recently detected in the Bristol Virginia Landfill. But a Toxicologist told concerned citizens from both Bristol’s Wednesday night foul odors seeping from the Bristol, Virginia landfill are not causing long term health affects that some residents claim. Benezene was detected at elevated levels in the air, but is not the cause of ill effects being reported by residents who live near the landfill. Instead, the report states much of the ill effects being reported are probably caused by gaseous odors from rotting trash.
