Bristol VA unveils new historic marker
A new historic marker in Bristol, Virginia remembers the victims of lynching in our region. The ceremony is part of a years-long effort across Virginia to remember victims of racial violence. It recognizes 20 year old Robert Clark who was lynched in 1891 by a mob of white people without the benefit of a trial, and for a crime he did not commit. The Bristol Community Remembrance Project Coalition gathered soil near where Clark’s lynching took place earlier this year. Clark’s memorial marker was unveiled Saturday with his family members present at the event.
