April 6th marks 25th anniversary of Greeneville’s Lillelid murders
April 6th marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most heart-wrenching murders in the history of Northeast Tennessee.
Community members dedicated a rock memorial on Wednesday at the scene of the murders of three members of the Lillelid family, Vidar, Delfina, and Tabitha, who were kidnapped from a Greeneville, Tennessee rest stop then taken to a remote area and shot execution-style by a group of young adults from Kentucky.
The lone survivor, 2-year-old Peter Lillelid, was taken in by family members and now lives in their native Sweden. The six children, all but one under the age of 20 at the time, remain in prison serving life sentences.
