Proposed TN bill could upend vape industry in the state

A proposed bill in the state House of Representatives and Senate would ban all non-Food and Drug Administration compliant products and that includes vapes. The new bill would establish a registry that requires vape shops to provide annual certification that the products they sell have already received or are in the process of receiving approval from the FDA. The bill would stop all use of products not listed in the FDA directory. Vape shop operators across the state say the bill would destroy the vape industry, and the thousands of vape shops in the state would close, leaving employees out of work. The Senate Commerce and Labor Committee approved the bill Tuesday and it now heads to the Senate Finance Ways and Means. If passed, the bill would go into effect on July 1, 2026.
