Washington County TN Commission approves new safety cameras

On Monday, the Washington County, Tennessee Commission approved a resolution allowing eight new Flock Safety Security cameras to be installed along certain highways. The Sheriff’s Office already has four in use. The cameras read license plates and also show real-time video. The system also allows users to have access to their security footage nationwide. Sheriff Keith Sextons says these type of cameras are beneficial in tracking vehicles involved in kidnappings and burglaries. These new cameras will only be installed along public highways and will not be anywhere that could impact anyone’s privacy. Other regional agencies, including Kingsport Police, have Flock cameras in use.
